Thomson announced today that it will support both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD.

The announcement comes in the wake of fevered activity from studios and electronics manufacturers to position themselves in either the Blu-Ray or HD-DVD camps.

However, Thomson's support for Blu-Ray would seem to be limited to manufacturing the blank media, while it will produce recorders and players through its RCA (in the USA) and Thomson (in Europe) brands. This is hardly a ringing endorsement for Blu_ray and mirrors the recent momentum towards its HD-DVD rival.
