December 13th 2004 Samsung starts mass production of Blu-Ray recorder
First announced at CES 2004, the BD-R1000 combines the features of digital and analog recording, DVD and CD playback, and Home Theater functionality in a convenient set-top box form factor. Users can record their HDTV broadcasts onto an optical disc, preserving the full quality of content for playback at any time. The BD-R1000 includes both ATSC digital and NTSC analog recording and playback features. SAMSUNG designed the large-scale integrated circuits, deck and pick-up components of this recordable DVD/CD player expressly for next-generation, digital convergence products. The unit offers recording time of 2 hours in HD quality or 12 hours in SD quality. In addition, precise Servo Control and BD navigation (for quick and easy access to recorded contents) further enhance this top-of-line device for the home entertainment enthusiast. Samsung is setting a sale price between 3 million and 4 million won (US$2800 - $3750). |
