January 3rd 2005 Zoran's DVD-Recording Technology Powers Pioneer's New DVD Recorder Products
Pioneer, a leading manufacturer of high performance DVD products, has introduced a new small form factor combo DVD recorder plus VCR to meet the needs of consumers who wish to preserve legacy VCR footage on DVD. This new combo also delivers world-class DVD player quality video and audio for the home theater. "Pioneer selected Zoran's DVD recording solution so that we could quickly bring to market a high quality, cost-competitive combo recorder product. As the key innovator of the DVD-RW format, Pioneer has strict quality standards for all our products to ensure that consumer recorded DVD discs have the highest level of DVD player compatibility. Pioneer's new combo products record up to six hours of content on a single DVD-R/RW disc. They also function as a full-featured, 4-head, Hi-Fi VHS/VCRs. The new combo recorders offer easy dubbing from VHS tapes to DVD disc and vice versa. The consumer can create DVD-Video format on DVD-R/RW media, as well as DVD-VR format on DVD-RW media. In the DVD-VR format, the user can perform a variety of editing operations to optimally tune the DVD playback behavior. Consumers' home video memories stored in DVD-Video format can be played back on most DVD players on the market. Pioneer models shipping in the U.S. include DVR-RT300-S and DVR-RT500-S; in Japan, DVR-RT500-S; and in Europe, DVR-RT400-S. |
