DirecTV have announced strong fourth quarter financial results and revealed plans for new hardware products in 2005.

The company added a fourth quarter record 1.1 million gross subscribers bringing the full year total to an all-time high of 4.2 million.

Chase Carey, president and CEO of The DirecTV Group said "We also intend to introduce advanced new programming and interactive services as well as a new digital video recorder with interactive capabilities. We plan to continue to expand DIRECTV's international programming lineup, grow our presence in rural markets, and by year-end introduce our Home Media Center that will provide an entertainment solution for the entire home."
