June 21st 2005 Blu-Ray and HD-DVD Talks Scrapped
Sony Computer Entertainment president, Ken Kutaragi, has admitted that talks between Sony and Toshiba have come to an end with no resolution. We now move forward to a future with Blu-Ray and HD-DVD co-existing unhappily and consumers scratching their heads about where to put their support. Whether both formats can survive side-by-side is anyone's guess, but only Blu-Ray has the USP of being used in the forthcoming Playstation3. This fact alone makes it strong contender and unless HD-DVD can quickly find a similar selling point, there will be an awful lot of households locked into a Blu-Ray future, with little need to look elsewhere. |
