TiVo is making a move into internet-based TV on demand.
The PVR service has struck a deal with cable-based Independent Film Channel to allow its subscribers to download three editions of a particular show before they are aired normally.
The service requires a TiVo Series2 model with a USB network adapter and a broadband internet connection.
The news comes days after DirecTV announced that it would stop marketing TiVo to its customers, the primary source of new TiVo subscriptions.
