August 31st 2005 JVC Unveils Recordable DVD Home Cinema Systems
Both 5.1-channel systems deliver high-resolution PAL-progressive pictures, and use JVC-trademark technologies to achieve superior image quality, for both recording and playback. An easy ‘hand-clap’ surround sound set-up and an array of convenient recording functions enhance their usability even more. The TH-R series home cinema systems are ‘all-in-one’ packages designed to meet diverse home entertainment needs. The units take full advantage of JVC’s extensive background in video technologies to deliver high-quality pictures. The sleek centre units allow DVD recording with multi-format flexibility. They allow recording and playback of DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, and DVD-R (video format), plus playback of DVD-Video, MP3, and JPEG digital stills (CD-R/RW). JVC’s extensive background in video technologies has been fully incorporated into these two elegant units. Both systems offer solid, natural, high-resolution pictures in PAL progressive format. Motion Active Progressive Scan Output intelligently generates a progressive scan signal from interlaced scan sources, such as TV programmes recorded on DVD. For movie sources, JVC's exclusive Digital Direct Progressive Scan technology enables superior PAL progressive pictures without interlacing the original pictures. These units apply superior JVC technologies in recording as well—‘Frame Synchroniser’ and ‘Motion Active Noise Reduction’ ensure high-quality recording pictures with minimum noise. Of course, they also come with a host of features designed to give you a more intense listening experience. The 5.1-channel systems boast high 810W power, and compatible surround formats include Dolby Digital, DTS, DTS 96/24, and Dolby Pro Logic II. Plus, the systems come with Virtual Surround Back, which delivers the excitement of 6.1-channel sound without having to add a surround back speaker. With the TH-R systems, JVC innovations are also incorporated into the stylish uniquely designed speakers, which are specially geared to deliver dynamic sound. The TH-R1 comes with the JVC-trademarked Omni-Directional Surround Speaker Version 2.0 that guarantees an astoundingly wide, realistic sound field with the construction. It features an upward-facing speaker with a diffuser of matching size, which directs sound not only forward, but also up and in all horizontal directions. In addition, the Version 2.0 unit features the diffuser tilted slightly forward, to deliver more sound to the listener’s position. The special method of construction also provides greater speaker positioning options. The TH-R3 comes with sleek floor-standing front/surround speakers, which boast a sophisticated look, powerful sound, and greater set-up options. The speaker unit can even be detached from the stand to be mounted on a wall. With both units, setting up the ideal surround sound is unbelievably easy - just clap your hands, and instantly the levels and delay times of the individual speakers are automatically optimised for your listening position. JVC-original ‘On-Disc Timer Programming’ lets you finish setting the timer by simply loading a disc, since you can pre-programme the timer function directly onto a DVD disc. The ‘Live Memory’ function (available with DVD-RAM) permits simultaneous recording and playback of TV programmes. Now you can ‘go back’ and watch scenes of a programme currently being recorded, without stopping recording or waiting until it’s completed. After you load a disc and choose the thumbnail of a recorded title, the thumbnail begins playing the programme with sound, making it easy to select content. |
