March 1st 2004 | Japan Sharp Introduces a New DVD/VCR Combo RecorderSharp Corporation announces the introduction into the Japanese market of a DVD/VCR combination recorder. The new DV-RW200 is equipped with three tuners—a VHF/UHF tuner and an analog BS (broadcast satellite) tuner*1 for recording on DVD plus an additional VHF/UHF tuner for recording on VHS videotape, enabling independent tuning and recording of separate TV channels. The DV-RW200 allows users to simultaneously record two separate channels, one on DVD and the other on videotape, even when the two programs are being broadcast at the same time. In addition, this unit features Easy DVD Video Dubbing, a popular feature in Sharp's predecessor model (DV-RW100), that allows easy recording (dubbing) from videotape to DVD-RW/R and from DVD-RW/R to videotape. And a DV Input Jack (i.LINK) provides a convenient, high-resolution connection with digital video (DV) cameras. The DVD/VCR Combo Recorder integrates in the same enclosure a VHS VCR we are all familiar with and a DVD recorder capable of recording high-quality digital images onto compact media. This unit is a ready replacement for a conventional VCR and uses the same connections, and has received widespread acceptance as a new market category following its introduction in the spring of 2003. Recording media is now in the process of shifting from videotape to discs. In this environment, Sharp is offering the DV-RW200 DVD/VCR Combo Recorder as a versatile alternative to enable users to enjoy either media, focusing particularly on people making new purchases and on consumers replacing an existing VHS VCR. Major Features 1. Three Tuners & Two-Program Simultaneous Recording allow simultaneously recording of two separate programs onto DVD and VHS tape 2. DV Input Jack for simple, high-quality video dubbing to DVD from digital video (DV) cameras 3. Dubbing DNR (Digital Noise Reduction) & Dubbing TBC (Time Base Corrector) for high-quality dubbing of VHS video onto DVD 4. DVD-RW/R Recording/Playback and DVD+RW/+R Playback for maximum compatibility |
