Panasonic has announced that it has developed a chipset that will allow recording onto Blu-Ray, as well as DVD and CD discs in a single drive.

Not surprisingly HD-DVD isn't one of the options as Panasonic is a member of the Blu-Ray Disc Association and is hardly likely to show support for the rival format.

According to reports, mass production will begin in January 2006.
