March 1st 2006 Hard Drive Recorder Prices Plummet
Leading the charge is the Maplin Electronics 250GB A12FK which will set you back just £230, a price that only 12 months ago would only have got you a DVD recorder without the flexibility of a hard disc. The recorder itself is a DVD+R/RW unit with six different quality settings and a DV input on the front panel. Style-wise it won't set the market on fire being reminiscent of earlier LiteOn models, but in fact being manufactured by Yamada. Talking of LiteOn, the DivX-playing LVW-5055GDL is now on sale for £217. This is a visual departure from previous LiteOn models and is the first one that we would actually be happy having on display in the living room. It also sports a 250GB hard drive, so that's around 300 hours of recording time. |
