Those lucky Japanese seem to get everything first and, true to form, Sony is releasing three new DVD recorders there on May 19.

The RDZ-D97A, RDZ-D77A and RDZ-D87 come with 400GB, 250GB and 400GB hard drives respectively and built in terrestrial and analogue tuners.

Beyond that, our ability to translate the Japanese press release has been limited to two nuggets of information.

1) You can programme the recorders via your mobile phone

2) You can write directly to Memory Stick Pro Duo so recordings can be played back on a PSP.
