Sony has announced that it will be launching a Blu-Ray recorder for the Japanese market during the month of December.

The expected retail price is 300,000 yen ($2,550) for a device with a 500GB hard drive.

This is the same price as that announced by Panasonic for their 500GB recorder, but they have also announced a 'budget' 200GB model for 240,000 yen.
