TiVo is finally coming to Australia after the makers of the PVR agreed a deal with Channel 7.

The usual TiVo services will be available such as SeasonPass recordings and WishList searches. However, this extended functionality is entirely dependent on EPG data and that is exactly what may cause a problem.

Channel Nine is currently suing the independent IPG distributor, IceTV claiming that the data is copywritten. It is unlikely that this lawsuit will be successful, but in the meantime TiVo will have to be doing some serious behind-the-scenes negotiations.
