There are some rumours, seemingly substantiated by a Sony official (albeit one based in New Zealand - sorry Kiwis) that the PS3 may see an upgrade that turns it into a PVR.

Sony Computer Entertainment New Zealand boss Warwick Light told The Press that the company is "hoping next year... to release a digital tuner for the PS3, turning it into a programmable TV recorder."

So the keyword here is 'hoping', but nevertheless, he wouldn't say it if it weren't true. Would he?

Now all Sony needs to do is stick in a Blu-ray burner and all will be well with the world.
