The DMR-EH50S makes high-quality recordings and is easy to use, but some users may not like the TV Guide On Screen program guide

This is definitely a product that's designed for someone who wants more control over their recording abilities and recorded content. Solid video playback, the addition of DVD-RW/+R recording and that new, lower price combine to make the DMR-EH50 one highly versatile, highly desirable product.

Lots of nice features, but I can not understand why they did not have the feature of "pausing live TV" that is on Tivos and Replay TV's. I can not understand this since it has plenty of ram and power. Also I just about wore out the pages trying to interpret the operators manual. It needs to be written by someone who uses the product and not an engineer. It will not be a successful product if they do not add "Pause for live TV" and a straight forward operators manual.I love the high speed dubbing and the quality of the recordings. If you buy one look toward several weeks trying to figure out the operation.

I have just purchases a EH50, i have been holding off for a while but i thought i had to go out and get one or i never will. Upto now i am very pleased with machine. It records to both HDD and DVD discs r and rw extrememly well and starts recording almost instantly. The quality is superb and although i never will because the quality declines so much, you can fit 8 hours on a single 4.7gb disc. The editing features are smooth and eay to use, programming is easy and setup, i found extremely easy. The high speed dubbing between HDD and disc is superb and the fact that it controls the Sky box is great as it uses the sky personal planner to tell the recorder when to start recording. Overall i am very pleased with it so far, i just wish it had a function to pause live TV!!!
