If GBP150 is your absolute spend limit, this is the recorder you should be looking at.

Those on a budget should ignore the ultra cheapies and opt for a model like this, which combines value for money with genuine quality

I wouldn't pay GBP149 for this thing, it's not much better than the budget ones going for GBP80 in supermarkets.

Bought from ASDA for £128 (after having had two Cyberhome 750's that never recorded succesfully). Records well. It now has a sticker on it to state that it can now record dual media (+ and -) , although I have only tried it on Tesco +RW's (at normal DVD quality) and the quality is very respectable for the price. Having the Videoplus is a bonus for my family for ease of use.
Drawbacks seem to be related to the remote control - No button for open/close drawer (as on most players), and navigation buttons (left/right/up/down) are not intuitively placed for when your watching in dim light.
The buttons are in two sizes on the remote and it does seem odd that the number buttons (that aren't used often) are larger than the ones you use a lot more eg.pause/top menu/ TV/DVD etc, which are packed together at the bottom.
As this is only my second DVD recorder my experience is not great but I would recommend this recorder to anyone how doesn't want to pay a high price to start with, but does want one that has an easy intial setup and will record succesfully.
