| All in all, then, it’s an okay recorder that’s fairly unremarkable when it comes to features and performance. Heck, it’s not even particularly cheap by today’s standards. | |

| The LVW-5005's real story is its painless multi-format magnanimity and relative ease of use. If pricing remains competitive, some additional features and refinements could make a future Lite-On DVD recorder the stepping stone of choice for a generation of VHS refugees. | |

I bought one of these and took it back because of poor picture quality and difficulty of use compared to my old Panasonic DMR-E50. I also could not figure out how to change the thumbnail pic. It did,, however, read every disc that I put in it including several that the Panasonic could not read. Now, if this machine cost less then I could consider it for a second backup recorder. I just didn't think it was worth $180 US.
